Getting Around Tbilisi
Metro, buses, cable cars, the funicular, taxis and walking cover different parts of a city where steep slopes often matter more than short map distances.
Why go
Use the metro for longer north-south moves and treat hillside transport as part of the route. Walking works well inside Old Tbilisi and along Rustaveli Avenue, but fast roads and steep lanes can break an apparently simple connection. Check current public-transport payment and service information before arrival, and keep extra time for transfers across the river.
