Bangkok National Museum
Housed in the former Front Palace, Bangkok National Museum presents Thai history, archaeology, art and ethnology. Its galleries connect objects from different periods with the royal setting that now houses them.
The museum is useful before visiting temples and historic sites elsewhere in Thailand. Exhibitions cover national history, art history and archaeology, minor arts and ethnology, and remains of the Front Palace. A volunteer led ninety minute tour offers a structured introduction if available; independent browsing can focus on the collections that interest you.
