Phanom Rung Historical Park
Phanom Rung Historical Park crowns an extinct volcano in Buriram with a large Khmer sanctuary. Its successive construction phases and elevated approach make this an expansive archaeological visit in northeastern Thailand.
Come to see a major Khmer site in a setting shaped by an ancient volcanic hill. The temple’s religious history spans Hindu and Buddhist use, while the stone buildings reflect additions across several centuries. Allow enough time to approach the sanctuary and explore the exposed grounds at an unhurried pace.
