Surat Thani
Surat Thani sits near the Tapi River’s mouth on the Gulf side of southern Thailand. It is a useful transfer city for Ko Samui and Ko Pha Ngan, with street art and Old Town stops for time ashore.
A ferry connection is often the reason to come, but the city has enough local texture to reward a pause. Look for street art, the Old Town and Shrine Market area, and views near Sri Tapi Bridge rather than treating the urban stop as empty waiting time. Keep island travel and city wandering as separate blocks.
What to look for
Street art adds a visible layer to the city centre.
Old Town and Shrine Market give a compact urban focus.
Sri Tapi Bridge relates the city to its river setting.
Useful to know
Leave a separate block for ferry or onward transport rather than squeezing it into a city walk.
If a connection allows, focus a short city visit on Old Town and the river.
