Wat Chalong
Wat Chalong is one of Phuket’s principal temples, closely associated with the monk Luangpho Chaem. Its active devotional role gives a cultural stop away from the island’s beaches.
The temple is a chance to understand a strand of Phuket’s local religious life. TAT links Luangpho Chaem to meditation, traditional medicine and stories from nineteenth century unrest, explaining why he remains a focal figure here. Visit the compound with the pace and conduct of an active place of worship rather than treating it as decorative architecture alone.
