Why go
The streetcar network gives a different view of Toronto from the subway. Surface routes connect shopping streets, theatre areas, Chinatown, Kensington, the Annex and the waterfront, so a ride can become a moving introduction to the city's neighbourhood changes. The trade-off is speed: vehicles share road space on many corridors, and the best route for seeing the city is not always the fastest way across it.
Useful to know
- Use a streetcar for a corridor you want to observe, not for a connection with no time margin.
- Check current route and service information before relying on a legacy route number or destination.
- When boarding or leaving in traffic, wait until adjacent vehicles have stopped; keep belongings secure in crowded periods.
