Sankofa Square
Sankofa Square, formerly Yonge-Dundas Square, is a central public space where surrounding retail and changing civic activity create a busy downtown crossroads.
Why go
The square gives a downtown walk a vivid point of orientation between Yonge Street, the Eaton Centre and the surrounding streets. Its open layout makes the contrast between public gathering space, retail frontage and dense city movement easy to see. Use it as a short central stop, then continue toward Queen, the university district or another named destination.
What to look for
Watch the changing pedestrian flow from the open square.
Look for the seasonal seating, fountains and event setup.
Useful to know
Special events can limit open areas.
