Smaller Monuments Around El Castillo
Beyond Tulum's main landmarks, smaller structures and an old inscribed stela add context. The Temple of the Wind and the small bay help link ritual architecture to the coast.
These details are useful once you have seen the wall and El Castillo. A rounded base distinguishes the Temple of the Wind near the Castillo group, while the bay below the ruins suggests how boats could approach. An early date on Stela 1 shows older material at the site without proving every surviving building is equally old.
What to look for
The Temple of the Wind has a rounded base near El Castillo.
A small bay opens below the cliffside buildings.
Stela 1 bears an early Maya date, much older than most visible ruins.
