Adapazarı
Adapazarı is a Marmara-region city with a notable Byzantine landmark, the Justinianus Bridge. It suits travelers following the old route east from Istanbul.
The Justinianus Bridge, also called Beş Köprü, is the clearest reason to make a historical stop here. It recalls the route that linked Constantinople with lands to the east. Adapazarı’s place in the Sakarya region adds context to that crossing and to the city’s later growth.
What to look for
Justinianus Bridge is also known as Beş Köprü.
The bridge belonged to an old eastbound route from Constantinople.
Useful to know
Treat the bridge as a separate stop from the modern city center.
Plan for damp weather outside summer in the Marmara region.
