Getting Around Turkey
Turkey's long distances make the choice between domestic flights and intercity buses important. Use flights for major cross-country moves and buses for a closer look at regional routes.
Large cities connect through Istanbul and Ankara by air, while intercity buses link many towns through the otogar, the main bus station. A regional airport may still require a bus or minibus onward to the town you want. Looking at the full airport-to-destination journey can change which option is actually quicker.
Useful to know
Compare the full journey, including the transfer from a regional airport.
At an otogar, compare operators' departure and arrival times before buying.
For smaller towns, check whether the bus route requires a change at a larger hub.
