Konya
Konya is a Central Anatolian city for Seljuk architecture and the heritage of Mevlana. Its main historical stops cluster around museums, mosques and Alaeddin Hill.
Konya was a capital of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, and that history is still visible in its religious buildings and former madrasas. Pair the Mevlana Museum, once a Sufi lodge, with the İnce Minaret and Karatay madrasas to see different sides of the city’s cultural past.
What to look for
The Mevlana Museum occupies a former Sufi lodge.
The İnce Minaret and Karatay madrasas recall Seljuk Konya.
Alaeddin Hill brings several historic sites into the same area.
Useful to know
Group the central madrasas and mosques into one city walk.
Allow separate time for the Mevlana Museum rather than treating it as a quick exterior stop.
