Head to the Vatican Museums entrance on Viale Vaticano. Metro A stations Ottaviano and Cipro are approach options. A taxi rank is in the square in front of the museums. Use the entrance signs to identify the museum approach when you arrive.

Through the arrival area

Follow staff directions through security. Information, the Welcome and Special Permits desks, and the cloakroom belong to the arrival services. Ask there about the collection you want to reach before following the museum's signs into the complex.

Ask for the route you need

If you need a lift or are visiting with a stroller, tell staff your destination. The Pinacoteca and ancient collections appear on the first floor of the museum map, while the upper galleries and Raphael Rooms are on the second. Request the itinerary without barriers for your chosen collection when you need it. A named destination gives staff a clearer starting point than a request to see the whole museum.
