Tell museum staff which collection you want to visit and ask for the itinerary without barriers and the appropriate lift. The museum's accessible itinerary works with staff assistance. Use the map to name your destination rather than assuming that neighbouring rooms share the same access.

Wheelchairs and mobility equipment

The cloakroom lends wheelchairs free, subject to availability, with an identity document and deposit required. Some spaces cannot accommodate electric wheelchairs or scooters because of space limits, so a transfer to a traditional wheelchair may be needed. Ask staff about the spaces on your planned visit.

Admission documentation

Bring the accepted disability documentation to the Special Permits or Welcome Desk. The museum's concession includes certified disability of at least 67% or the accepted documentation described in its admission terms. A companion may enter free when the visitor is not self-sufficient. These concession tickets are issued at the desks and cannot be booked online.

Guided products

The museum's standard guided tours are not offered to wheelchair visitors. Gardens without Barriers is a separately identified product. For a self-guided museum visit, ask staff about the itinerary to the collections you want to see.
