The full story
The four churches answer different questions. San Zeno shows Romanesque structure through its balanced facade, carved portal and crypt. Sant'Anastasia adds Gothic height, red-marble pillars and Pisanello's painted chapel. Verona Cathedral is a multi-building complex rather than a single interior, joining the main church with a baptistery, Sant'Elena and the canons' cloister. Santa Maria Antica is smaller, but its doorway anchors the Scaliger Tombs and Cangrande's monument. Combine them by area instead of forcing a fixed route: the Cathedral, Sant'Anastasia and Santa Maria Antica fit one central walk, while San Zeno deserves a separate westward leg. Check access around services and dress for active places of worship. This division keeps the day realistic and gives each interior enough time for its sculpture, painting and changes in architectural scale.
