The main arrival courtyard connects the gates on Place d’Armes with the palace entrances. The Dufour Pavilion contains Entrance A for individual visitors.

Beyond the main gates, the wings of the palace frame a broad courtyard. Face the central building and find the Dufour Pavilion on the left. Entrance A is the individual-visitor entrance there. The royal courtyards beyond the next gates belong to the controlled palace visit.
The size of the forecourt gives you room to recognise the different parts of the building before joining the entrance queue. From here, a palace visit and a garden visit start along different approaches. Follow the entrance named on your booking rather than treating the central golden gate as the entrance to every part of the estate.
