Shutters above the doors conceal places where musicians played during Louis XIV’s suppers. The Music Room was then an antechamber to his apartment. The meal and its music occupied neighbouring spaces, with the players able to perform from above.
Napoleon used the room as an officers’ lounge, and King Louis-Philippe later made it a billiard room. These changes took place within an interior that preserves some of the oldest wood panelling in the Grand Trianon. The room belongs to the northern suite. The walking visit stays in the South Wing, Peristyle and garden.
