Notice the green wall covering and the broad mahogany panels of the furniture. Marie-Antoinette asked her architect Richard Mique to redecorate this room, keeping the earlier ceiling. The cabinetmaker Jean-Henri Riesener supplied furniture with large surfaces of mahogany. The room had served as a second antechamber, where Queen Marie Leszczyńska held formal audiences and orderly conversation with court ladies. Its fittings changed as different queens used the same ceremonial rooms.
