The room at the queen’s end of the Hall of Mirrors pairs marble and gilded trophies with paintings of peace.

Look towards the painted dome, where Charles Le Brun presented the benefits of peace brought to Europe by France. Marble and gilded trophies link this room visually to the War Room at the other end of the Hall of Mirrors. A movable partition could separate it from the gallery, making it part of the queen’s apartment. Queen Marie Leszczyńska, the wife of Louis XV, held Sunday concerts here. Music gave this richly decorated room another use within the royal household.
