The curved fountain sculptures and planting belong to a new design opened in 2015. The landscape designer Louis Benech and the artist Jean-Michel Othoniel created it on the site of a grove first laid out in the 1670s. That earlier Water Theatre had a place for spectators and a stage where fountain engineers arranged changing water effects. The old installation was costly to maintain and disappeared at the end of the eighteenth century. The present garden is a contemporary addition within the historic estate. Reach it from the Neptune Fountain or North Parterre side, using the marked entrance. Follow the curves of the sculptures against the planting.
Before you arrive

Enter the Water Theatre Grove from the Neptune Fountain or North Parterre side. Its fountain water effects are currently interrupted.
