Yangon Zoological Gardens
Yangon's zoological gardens sit beside Kandawgyi Lake and make a longer outdoor stop than a lakeside stroll. Visit for the animal enclosures and the older garden setting, allowing time to explore on foot.
This is one of Yangon's longstanding public gardens, with a history reaching back to the early twentieth century. Its animal enclosures make it a different experience from simply walking around Kandawgyi Lake next door. Follow the garden paths at an unhurried pace, then decide whether to continue to the lake. The site works best when the zoo itself is your main activity in the area.
What to look for
Animal enclosures sit within a large planted garden.
The zoo's long history dates to its opening near Kandawgyi Lake in the early 1900s.
Kandawgyi Lake is nearby for a separate waterside walk.
Useful to know
Use the zoo's official site to confirm current tickets and any reservation option.
Make the zoo the main stop and add a short Kandawgyi Lake walk if you have time.
