Glacier Point Road and South Rim Trails

Combine Glacier Point and Washburn Point with a choice of Sentinel Dome, Taft Point, or a longer south-rim trail. The sequence keeps distant stops out of the same walking segment.

Glacier Point Road and South Rim Trails

Why go

Drive first to Glacier Point and Washburn Point for the broad Half Dome and high-country views, then choose Sentinel Dome or Taft Point for a focused hike. Dewey Point, McGurk Meadow, Badger Pass, and Ostrander Lake offer progressively longer alternatives, not mandatory additions. Treat only one demanding trail as essential. Confirm road and trail status, carry water, and shorten the plan when weather or smoke reduces the payoff. Storm clouds or smoke should turn the longer south-rim option into a short overlook day.
