From the Yosemite World / Itineraries

Mariposa Grove and Wawona

A one-day grouping through Mariposa Grove and Wawona, anchored by Mariposa Grove and Grizzly Giant with related stops kept in geographic order.

Mariposa Grove and Wawona

Why go

Give Mariposa Grove enough time to walk beyond the arrival area to the Grizzly Giant, California Tunnel Tree, and Bachelor and Three Graces. Wawona Point extends the forest visit into a longer climb and should remain optional. Back in Wawona, the Wawona Hotel and Pioneer Yosemite History Center explain the southern district's travel history. Chilnualna Falls requires a separate strenuous hike, so pair it with the heritage stops only when daylight, heat, and trail conditions clearly support that choice.
