From the Yosemite World / Itineraries

Tioga Road and Tuolumne Meadows

A one-day grouping through Tioga Road and Tuolumne Meadows, anchored by Tuolumne Grove and Merced Grove with related stops kept in geographic order.

Tioga Road and Tuolumne Meadows

Why go

Choose either Tuolumne Grove or Merced Grove before climbing Tioga Road; attempting both weakens the high-country portion of the day. Olmsted Point introduces the granite watershed, and Tenaya Lake provides the natural pause before Tuolumne Meadows. From the meadow, Lembert Dome is the active option, while Soda Springs and Parsons Memorial Lodge form a gentler historical walk. Because this corridor is seasonal and widely spaced, confirm road status, fuel, food, weather, and daylight before committing to the crossing.
