From the Yosemite World / Itineraries

Tioga Road to Tuolumne Meadows

Cross the high country from the sequoia groves to Olmsted Point, Tenaya Lake, Tuolumne Meadows, and Soda Springs. The sequence keeps distant stops out of the same walking segment.

Tioga Road to Tuolumne Meadows

Why go

Begin with either Tuolumne Grove or Merced Grove, then follow Tioga Road east to Olmsted Point and Tenaya Lake. Continue to Tuolumne Meadows, where Lembert Dome, Soda Springs, and Parsons Memorial Lodge form a compact final cluster. This is a long seasonal driving day, so choose only one grove and make Lembert Dome optional. Verify Tioga Road, fuel, food, water, and trail access before departure. Late road openings or an early sunset are reasons to omit a grove rather than rush the meadow cluster.
