Oliver brought the history of D-Day to life for me. His detailed knowledge is summarized into meaningful historic events which allowed me to understand the reason behind decisions related to the invasion and bad decisions that cost many lives.
I will always use Viator when visiting historic sites because they provide depth and breadth that is priceless.
Thank you Oliver
Tour was well worth the cost. I have read a lot about WWII, but seeing the actual places really completes the story for me. The visit to the American cemetery where 9800 are buried was deeply moving. Our guide was Fantastic, easily the best tour guide I have had on any tour with any company. He was very knowledgeable about the D-Day events, and I even learned some tidbits from him that I did not know. Lunch was at a very nice restaurant and wasn't very expensive. The Cider tasting was ok, was not like the hard cider in many bars....the apple juice there was very tasty, and we ended up buying a small bottle of an apple brandy that they produce.
We loved the tour, the small group, the guide's knowledge and hospitality....was the favorite part of our trip to Paris for my wife.
Great tour very informative. Guide was very knowledgeable, i would definitely recommend tour to friends, family, and strangers.
Perfect small group tour. Our host was so knowledgeable! Such hallowed grounds and sobering lessons. I highly recommend!
I wish I could remember our guide's name. He was thoughtful, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. There was no question he couldn't answer and expand upon.
This tour fills a long day but is entirely worthwhile. Our guide was the perfect host-- engaging and sometimes charismatic, knowledge and informative, fully responsive to all questions, and anticipating all of the group's needs. The visit to the cemetery is sad and chilling and entirely worth a day's time commitment.
We visited Paris over Thanksgiving break to avoid a lot of the crowds and we hit the jackpot. My wife and I took our three kids ages 10, 13 and 16. Our guide Nissa was amazing! She was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was very well informed on all aspects of WWII to include, planning, strategy, troop commands, local support and overall impacts of every detail. We had great weather for early December. The sun was out and we couldn't have asked for a better day. We hit all of the major stops that Americans want to see, Omaha, Pointe du Hoc, and the American cemetery. It is about a 3 hour drive each way, but we stopped half way going and coming. There are bathrooms and a place to get breakfast which was great since we had the kids with us. We also stopped for lunch and had some local French fare, but they also have burgers, salads and steaks if you are a little less adventurous. This was a very humbling and spiritual place to visit. If your are on the fence about spending a whole day going to Normandy, you must make this trip. This was by far my favorite day trip on our visit to France. Everyone should visit Normandy at least once. I was worried about the kids making it all day, but they held up great. The only thing I might do different is book a private tour that picked us up at the house we rented to avoid travelling to and from the pick up point, but it was really easy to meet up with our guide at the pick up point. It just adds an extra step when you are travelling with kids.
Had a wonderful time on our tour of Normandy D-Day Beaches Day Trip. Very informative and loved that there was only 6 of us in the group. Felt we had more time to ask question and hear the information more clearly.
The small tour group (4) was a real plus. Our guide, Emerick was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge and pleasant personality made this a trip to remember. Definitely recommend.
This tour delivered on everything I had hoped for. I got to see everything I wanted to see. At the end of the day we even met some WWII veterans at the American Cemetery. Olivier, our guide, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the events surrounding D-Day and got us to and from the area safely and efficiently. I would definitely do this tour again if I am ever in France again.
Take a 12-hour day trip from Paris to Normandy to visit the D-Day landing beaches, where the end of World War II began at sites such as Omaha Beach. You'll see German bunkers, the Operation Overlord Museum, and Pointe du Hoc, plus visit the Normandy American Cemetery, where 10,000 white crosses stand in perfect rows next to the waters of the English Channel. This tour is limited to eight people to provide a small-group experience with a guide.
