Just a perfectly planned trip. Very well organised. Must visit Kyoto on bullet train. We got to see Mt. Fuji on our way after 40 mins ride towards Kyoto from the train. Very helpful and caring staff
We enjoyed thawed JTB ours organised the day trip with taxi to Tokyo station and back o hotel and guide that walked us to the platform of Shinkansen train. We particularly enjoyed our lunch at the hotel in Kyoto and our Tokyo guide (Ashitso- apologies if I spelled the name wrong)
Kyoto shines were wonderful and the pottery is unique. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The Japanese really know who to look after their guests.
We were very well taken care of on our tour from Tokyo to Kyoto and while in Kyoto. The Shinkansen ride was fantastic and our tour guides were amazing!
For a one day trip, this was a great introduction to Kyoto. We were a bit rushed at times, but that just left us wanting more. Next time we come to Japan, we will stay in Kyoto. What a great tour of an amazing city.
The tour guide and also the individuals who helped us to find our seats on the bullet train train could not have been kinder. The tour guide presented us with a very informative understanding of the three temples which we visited. Our lunch which was a buffet was both delicious and plentiful. You should be aware of the fact that five hours of the day is spent on transportation to and from Kyoto, but the experience of the bullet train was worth it. I would have liked to see less touristic temples. The first one we visited was too commercial.
The first guide was friendly and helpful at Tokyo and made sure we were on the correct train. The second guide was friendly and informative about the area. The third guide was very serious and walked very fast so we found it difficult to see and enjoy the sights as we were worried she would leave us. The food was excellent . On the whole the tour was enjoyable.
The pick ups and drop offs were ok but the tour was way too rushed without significant time for pictures or visiting. Barely had any free time and returned to train station way too soon with too much time to spare.
While everyone we encountered was polite and helpful, the overall experience was very disappointing. It was very difficult to find the pick up location to get the tickets for the train ride. The lunch offered was fine but rushed. The tour guide was kind and offered good info but the timeline was rushed at all locations. There was no time to experience any location we visited and then we ended up back at the departure point almost an hour early. Then, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes while a few of the others on the tour finished a meal in the hotel before taking the train back to Tokyo. We won’t book any group tour ever again. While more expensive, we will only book private tours.
Guide kept us running throughout our tour. No time to really enjoy the places. People were terrified to be left behind. I felt we needed more time to walk around and less time dropping everybody off after the tour was over
We were seeking a Bullet train experience and the flavor of Kyoto’s history. We got that but wrapped in a schedule that was too ambitious for time allotted mixed with periods of downtime. Perhaps it’s personal taste, but felt like we either glossed over the details at the temples or were so rushed that we didn’t have time to properly explore the unique characteristics, so why bother? The guide was capable but knowledge was superficial and unable to answer questions about some of the unusual elements. Logistics were overly ambitious and caused rushing to fit 10 pounds of activity in a 5 pound bag. All the staff were very polite and accommodating but were put in tough situations by the aggressive timeline. Tick the box on bullet train and seeing a few of Kyoto’s offerings but swing and miss on much of the detail and flavor that makes Kyoto so unique.
If you want to see the highlights of beautiful Kyoto but have limited time, zip there and back by bullet train (Shinkansen) on this full-day tour from Tokyo. See Mt Fuji from the train, then visit Kyoto highlights including Sanjusangen-do Hall,Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple on an afternoon city tour with an expert guide. Enjoy lunch upon arrival in Kyoto and transport by comfortable coach during the tour. Return to Tokyo on the evening bullet train to complete your excursion.
