Odd Fellows Building and Auditorium

A historic Auburn Avenue landmark best viewed from the street. Its paired buildings recall the business, social and cultural institutions that made Sweet Auburn a center of Black life.

Odd Fellows Building and Auditorium

Why go

The six-story Tower and lower Auditorium show how one site served several purposes in Sweet Auburn. The building housed Black-owned businesses and professionals; the Auditorium offered entertainment space when segregation restricted access elsewhere in Atlanta. Their different forms make that history visible from the street.

What to look for

  • Compare the taller Tower with the lower Auditorium beside it.
  • The Tower's stone ground floor contrasts with its redbrick upper stories.

Useful to know

  • View the Auburn Avenue facade as part of a Sweet Auburn walk.
  • Plan around an exterior visit; interior access has not been established.
