Why go

This ambitious cross-city route works for first-time visitors who want water, views and cultural context in one day. Start at the ferry terminal while the waterfront is active, then move east for the harbour outlook from Takaparawhau / Bastion Point and a timed aquarium visit if marine life is a priority. Continue through Parnell toward Holy Trinity Cathedral and Auckland Museum. The full list is too large for slow visits at every stop, so treat the aquarium or Sky Tower as optional and give the museum protected time. Use public transport between the waterfront and eastern stops rather than forcing the sequence into a single walk.
