Why go
Kelingking deserves a precise POI because most visitors come for the upper cliff view, not a quick island-wide stop. The ridge and enclosed bay show Nusa Penida's coastal geology at full scale. Descending to the beach is strenuous and should never be treated as an automatic extension of the viewpoint.
What to look for
- The folded headland forms a narrow spine above the cove.
- Upper viewpoints reveal sheer limestone walls around the beach.
- The descent follows an exposed ridge rather than a conventional stairway.
Useful to know
- Plan the upper viewpoint and beach descent as separate visits; the descent is steep, hot and time-consuming.
- Stay well back from unprotected edges and do not descend when weather or path conditions are poor.
