Svetozar Marković University Library
This 1920s university library on Bulevar kralja Aleksandra carries a much older academic collection. It is a worthwhile architecture and scholarship stop near Belgrade's law faculty.
The library traces its roots to the Belgrade Higher School's nineteenth-century collection, while its current building has housed readers since 1926. That pairing of old academic history and a dedicated interwar building gives a more tangible sense of the university than enrollment figures do.
What to look for
The library building has served university readers since 1926.
