Stranges Stiftelse
This former women’s almshouse preserves an eighteenth-century interior and a much older charitable history. It opens a quieter chapter of Bergen’s social past on Nordnes.
The institution began in the early seventeenth century and served women facing poverty for generations. Its surviving rooms make that social history more tangible than a plaque or exterior alone. The specific building and its guided interpretation set it apart from a general Nordnes neighborhood walk.
