Why go
This walk suits visitors who want several sides of central Birmingham in one day. Start with St Philip’s Cathedral, allowing worship to take priority, then cross Victoria Square towards the larger spaces around Centenary Square. Ikon Gallery gives the day an indoor pause and a change from civic architecture to contemporary exhibitions. Finish with a short canal walk around Brindleyplace rather than attempting the wider canal network. The National SEA LIFE Centre is optional: add it only with a timed ticket that fits the day. Leave room for exhibition changeovers and check cathedral visiting access before setting out.
