Museo Santa Clara
Santa Clara preserves a richly decorated former church close to the Capitolio. The visit is compact and visually concentrated, with access through the surrounding security perimeter sometimes requiring extra patience.
The surviving church allows painting, sculpture and architectural ornament to be seen together in the setting that gives them meaning. Its scale makes it a useful complement to a longer museum visit, while the density of decoration rewards slow looking. It is a separate institution from the Colonial Museum, despite shared administrative connections and related subject matter.
