Fort Lytton National Park
Explore Fort Lytton's moat, gun positions and passages to understand Brisbane's nineteenth-century coastal defences in their original riverside setting near the Brisbane River mouth.
The surviving earthworks and built structures turn the military history into a physical walk. A museum adds context to the fort's purpose, and tours can help explain features that are less obvious from outside. Because the park is away from central sightseeing routes, plan this as a deliberate history visit rather than a passing stop.
