Broadmead to Castle Park

Begin among Cabot Circus shops, visit John Wesley’s New Room and St James Priory, then cross Castle Park to its church ruins. Finish by Christ Church or Bristol Beacon.

Broadmead to Castle Park

Why go

This central route gives a more grounded alternative to a day spent crossing between far-flung parks. Start with modern Broadmead, then step into the New Room and St James Priory for two very different religious histories. Castle Park changes the pace, and the ruined St Peter’s Church gives its open space a wartime focus. Christ Church brings you back to the older street grid. Bristol Beacon is an optional final stop for its restored hall and public foyer; a performance is a separate plan. The walking is modest, with room to linger at the indoor sites or shorten the park section.
