Why go
The museum brings nationally important objects into a building that is itself a statement of modern Bucharest. Ancient gold and silver, royal regalia and the full-scale column cast provide strong anchors even when parts of the institution are under renovation. It is especially useful for placing the capital within the longer histories of Dacia, Rome and the Romanian state.
What to look for
- The Lapidarium houses a full-size cast of Trajan's Column and other stone monuments.
- The treasury gathers ancient metalwork and later royal objects in one concentrated display.
Useful to know
- Confirm which permanent galleries are open; renovation can substantially reduce the visit.
- View the former post-office façade together with the CEC Palace opposite.
