Glenmore Reservoir
The reservoir offers lakeside paths and views of sailing and rowing in southwest Calgary. It is a shore-based outing unless you arrange an allowed boating activity.
Walking beside the water gives a different view of Calgary's landscape, with boats on the reservoir and Weaselhead Natural Area nearby. The Glenmore Dam also explains why this is more than a recreation lake: the Elbow River reservoir serves the city's water system and controls downstream flow.
What to look for
Lakeside pathways give open views across the water.
Sailboats and rowing craft use the reservoir in season.
The Glenmore Dam holds back the Elbow River.
Useful to know
Use South Glenmore Park for a shore walk or to connect toward Weaselhead.
Check current boating rules before arranging a water activity; swimming and ice access are prohibited.
