Why go
This route suits visitors who want Halifax history told from several angles. Pier 21 focuses on arrivals to Canada, while the Maritime Museum connects the city to the sea. The walk between them follows the harbour district; from there, head inland and uphill to the Citadel. The final climb and outdoor grounds make comfortable shoes and fair weather useful, although the two museum visits are sheltered. Give each stop a proper visit rather than rushing through three exhibits. If you prefer a slower day, shorten your time at the Citadel instead of squeezing the first two museums.
