Yamil Lu’um
Yamil Lu’um is a short exterior monument stop on the Hotel Zone coast, where the Scorpion Temple’s surviving walls stand above the Caribbean shoreline.
The appeal lies in the temple’s position rather than the extent of its remains. From a permitted approach, the beachside rise makes the relationship between Maya construction and the sea immediately visible. It is a useful architectural pause around the central Hotel Zone, provided access through the adjoining grounds is confirmed.
What to look for
The temple’s weathered, outward-sloping walls
Its raised position facing the sea
Useful to know
Confirm the permitted public approach with staff before crossing hotel grounds.
Treat this as an exterior observation stop, with no promise of unrestricted hotel access.
