Why go
The Skydeck combines a landmark structural idea with the visceral experience of stepping over the city. From this position, the Loop's street grid, rail approaches and relationship to the lake become unusually clear. The view also exposes the tower's distance from the shoreline more clearly than street level can.
What to look for
- Study how the tower's nine bundled tubes step back at different heights.
- Use the glass ledges for a downward view, then move away from them for the wider urban panorama.
Useful to know
- Reserve a timed entry and check visibility before committing to an observation-deck visit.
- Allow additional time for security and queues, particularly around sunset and weekends.
