Why go
The Wrigley Building gives Michigan Avenue an unmistakable gateway. Its clock tower, ceramic skin and paired massing make a strong comparison with neighboring Tribune Tower and the glass skyscrapers rising behind them. The narrow plaza between its wings turns the exterior into a spatial experience.
What to look for
- Enter the small plaza between the towers to understand their connecting walkways.
- Look closely at the glazed terra cotta, which keeps the facade unusually luminous.
Useful to know
- The best overall view is from the south side of the river or DuSable Bridge.
- Allow time to cross the bridge and compare the building with Tribune Tower opposite.
