Jingshan Park

Climb through Jingshan Park to Wanchun Pavilion for a broad view over the Forbidden City and Beijing’s central axis. Its hilltop perspective is a useful outdoor continuation of a palace visit.

Jingshan Park

Why go

The park changes the scale of a Beijing history day. From the pavilion, the palace’s courtyard plan and surrounding roofs become legible in one view, while the paths recall the imperial garden that occupied this hill. It is a distinct stop immediately north of the Forbidden City, with the ascent and open-air outlook shaping the visit.

What to look for

  • Look south over the Forbidden City from Wanchun Pavilion.
  • Follow paths on the former imperial garden hill.
  • Trace the city’s central axis from above.

Useful to know

  • Allow time for the climb and for crowds at the pavilion.
  • The park publishes seasonal hours and entry rules; check the official page before fixing a time.
