Walk down to Riomaggiore’s compact harbour to see the village from water level. The stone boat ramp, fishing boats and houses rising behind the cove bring several parts of its coastal life into one view. From the edges of the harbour, the steep arrangement of buildings is clearer than it is from the narrow lanes above.
