Cuesta del Bailío
Cuesta del Bailío is a stepped link between Córdoba’s lower and upper streets. Its patterned pebbles, fountain and palace façade reward a short climb toward Plaza de Capuchinos.
Why go
This slope once connected the upper city with the lower Axerquía through a gap in the Roman-origin wall. The pebble-patterned steps lead to a fork and fountain, with the Casa del Bailío above. Its Renaissance façade gives the climb a clear architectural endpoint before the nearby Cristo de los Faroles in Plaza de Capuchinos.
What to look for
Look down at the decorative pebble patterns set into the steps.
A fountain marks the fork near the top of the climb.
The Casa del Bailío presents a Renaissance façade above the lane.
Useful to know
Expect steps and a slope; this is not a step-free shortcut.
Continue to Plaza de Capuchinos for Cristo de los Faroles.
