Villa San Ramon
Pause outside this Scharloo villa to study its paired columns, decorated pediment and fan-shaped staircase, an especially elaborate example of the district’s nineteenth-century residential architecture.
Villa San Ramon gives a Scharloo walk a specific architectural focus. Built in 1889, its symmetrical portico and broad staircase show the ambition of the district’s former merchant residences. Observe the protected facade from the street; the building now houses government offices, and this stop does not include access to the property or interior.
