Pioneer Plaza
Near the downtown convention center, Pioneer Plaza stages a bronze cattle drive against rockwork, water and native plants. It is a compact outdoor stop for Dallas history and sculpture.
Robert Summers's longhorns and three trail riders turn the story of nineteenth-century cattle routes into a scene you can walk around. The artificial cliffs, stream and planting make the herd feel in motion, so the plaza is worth seeing from more than one angle.
What to look for
Bronze longhorns and three mounted trail riders
The stream and waterfall beside artificial limestone cliffs
Native planting around the sculpture scene
Useful to know
Walk around the herd to see how the sculptural figures relate to the rockwork and water.
Keep this as a short downtown outdoor stop; the park does not publish reliable visiting hours.
