16th Street
This downtown promenade links Union Station with the Civic Center end of 16th Street. Walk it for an easy cross-city connection, with public art and storefronts along the way.
The street is useful as a route and a place to look around. Its long pedestrian stretch connects downtown sights, while murals, painted utility boxes and alley art reward a slower walk. Start at the end nearest your next stop rather than treating the whole corridor as a separate attraction.
What to look for
Murals and painted utility boxes along the downtown promenade
Storefronts and alley art between the street's larger landmarks
Useful to know
Use 16th Street to connect Union Station and central downtown sights on foot.
Leave time for side streets if the public art is your main reason to walk it.
