The Alcázar gives the Colonial City a domestic and political counterpart to its cathedral and fort. Its palace rooms and art displays bring a different scale to the colonial story, while the plaza outside shows how the building commands its setting above the Ozama. Visit it as a museum rather than treating it only as a photo stop.
