Why go
This route suits a first harbor visit with time for both islands. Begin at The Battery and join the timed security line for the official ferry. From Manhattan, boats call at Liberty Island before Ellis Island, so see the statue grounds and museum first, then continue to the Registry Room. The island visits are deliberately unhurried, but ferry queues and departures can change the pace. Your ticket time starts the security process rather than reserving a particular sailing. Check the official timetable before leaving and allow extra time in busy periods. A pedestal or crown visit needs its own reservation and is outside this route.
