Bowling Green
New York’s oldest designated public park is a small historic square beside the Custom House and a natural approach to The Battery.
Why go
The compact green shows how the colonial street plan meets today’s harbor gateway. NYC Parks traces its name to early lawn bowling, and its position outside the museum makes it an easy, meaningful pause on foot between Lower Manhattan streets and the ferry waterfront.
